Should anyone ask what “complication” can be found on Corum’s Bubble “Solar Moon”, perhaps the answer should be: “The Full Moon display.”

After all, it does have a moon display, albeit it is perpetually in the Full Moon phase rather than the typical moon phase indicator. Moreover, it is a “magnified” view because of the thick sapphire crystal.

Corum’s highly recognizable Bubble watch was first launched in the year 2000 at the BaselWorld watch fair. The watch featured a “towering sapphire crystal” that distorted the look on the dial and was housed in a 44mm diameter case.

Corum’s Bubble watch became an instant hit. It was probably because it is a fun and attention-grabbing watch.

The “Bubble” kind of “burst” over the past few years as there wasn’t much focus on it. However, in 2015, the Corum Bubble watch resurfaced when it made a resounding comeback at the BaselWorld watch fair.

Interestingly, the original Bubble watch was inspired by deep-sea dive watches from the 1960s that were fitted with extra-thick domed crystals to withstand the high pressure while deep down in the ocean.

There are many interesting and lively versions of the Bubble watch. Popular ones of the past were inspired by pirates (Privateer), games of roulette (Casino) and poker (Royal Flush), and even skulls (Jolly Roger).

Going by the looks of the Bubble “Solar Moon” including what was launched in 2015 and 2016, the possibilities are endless. For example, imagine an ocean floor teeming with life and even Earth or other planets which are “magnified”.

In short, what can we say but Corum’s Bubble watch potential is bubbling with excitement.
