The Fortis “Swift & Deadly” 6th Division 40th Anniversary watch based on the Day/Date model from the Cosmonautis collection is what we would describe as a timepiece that was a perfect match between Singapore Army’s 6 DIV and Fortis that was literally made in the heavens.

Why? The 6th Singapore Division, which comprises both active and National Service (reservist units) of the Singapore Army, was formed on 1 October 1976.

Interestingly, it was exactly 18 years later in 1994 that Fortis watches went up in space. It was the Fortis Official Cosmonauts Chronograph watch that laid its claim as the first automatic chronograph watch worn in space.

The Fortis Official Cosmonauts Chronograph watches were official equipment issued by General Yuri Glazkov to Aleksandr Viktorenko, commander of the Euromir 94 mission, and Dr Ulf Merbold, both of whom were members of the space crew.

Commander Viktorenko and German physicist and ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut Dr Merbold both wore their watches during the European / Russian Euromir space mission from 3 October to 4 November 1994.

The Fortis “Swift & Deadly” 6th Division 40th Anniversary watch boldly bears the cobra logo of the military unit on its dial. Limited to 100 pieces, this private label model was only offered to personnel of the 6th Division through Forte Luxury (Singapore), the exclusive Fortis distributor for Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Thailand.

Powered by the ETA 2836-2 automatic movement, this Fortis “Swift & Deadly” watch has the water-resistance of 200 metres.

The offering of this Fortis “Swift & Deadly” anniversary watch was attractively-priced and it came with an extra leather strap plus the option of a Boxy watch winder with an additional cash top-up. All in, this is a nice package deal for the men in green who keep Singapore’s shores safe from hostile enemy threats.
