What accessories complement the look for a superstar like Andy Lau? Well, among other things, the Cartier Tank MC wristwatch is one such accessory and this was revealed at the recently-concluded Watches&Wonders exhibition which ran from 25 to 28 September 2013.

Lau, who is also a singer and film producer, made a special appearance at the Cartier booth during the exhibition and was welcomed by Cartier’s President and CEO Stanislas de Quercize.

It was there that the audience was given a treat – a short 90-second film, a collaboration between Lau and Cartier, which made its world premier and this was followed by the “making of” video.

The 90-second film depicts Lau as himself on a way to a concert and is supported by a soothing soundtrack. The music is very similar to Rod Simonsen’s Red but it is not for the credits list Thomas Player for the soundtrack titled “A Series of Numbers”.

Listen carefully for the starting beat reminds us of the chiming of a clock.

In the film, as Lau rushes to the concert venue (where he will be performing), he gets flashbacks of key moments of his life that have shaped his destiny. The short film was directed by Briton Baillie Walsh.

At Cartier’s event at Watches&Wonders, Lau was also presented with the latest Tank MC in pink gold by de Quercize. This is the same wristwatch model Lau sports in the short film.

Powered by the self-winding Calibre 1904 MC, the first movement produced by the Cartier Manufacture, the Tank MC is deemed “the most masculine form ever seen in the Tank line,” according to the brand.

Indeed, this elegant wristwatch fits the look for a star such as Lau. Incidentally, there is a 2009 movie “Look for a Star” which Lau starred in and acted alongside actress Shu Qi.

In the movie synopsis “Look for a Star” found on blockbuster.com, Shu Qi who plays the character known as Milan is the love interest of Sam Ching (played by Andy Lau) and she becomes Hong Kong’s number one “It Girl”.

For Cartier, could the Tank MC become the “It watch”?
