Here’s a very quick glimpse of the 50 unique watches from the various brands offered for sale at the Only Watch charity auction that will be held on Saturday, 9 November 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland. These one-off timepieces will be auctioned by Christie’s.
As this is for a worthwhile cause, we truly felt the need to at least showcase all the pieces. Did you manage to spot all the 50 unique watches?
By far, possibly the most impressive is the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300-010 housed in a steel case and with a rose gold dial. This is the first and only Grandmaster Chime in steel. It is estimated at between USD2.5 million and USD3 million.
This sneak peek was possible thanks to Malmaison By The Hour Glass, the Singapore venue for the Only Watch world tour and it was showcased on 25 and 26 October 2019.
The Only Watch auction is a charity project whereby proceeds from the sales of the timepieces will mostly be donated to the Monegasque Association against Myopathies (Association Monégasque Contre Les Myopathies) for their medical and scientific research activities.
These will support the scientific research to find a cure to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a disease that is, to this day, incurable and affects one boy over 3,000 male births, highlights Prince Albert II of Monaco.
The Only Watch charity auction began because of Paul Pettavino who was afflicted with this incurable disease. Sadly, he passed on in 2016 at 21 years of age.
Rather than let it be, his father, Luc Pettavino, took action early and started the Only Watch charity auction way back in 2005 with support from watch brands. His actions will hopefully lead to a cure one day and spell hope for other boys afflicted with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. As for the 50 unique watches for Only Watch, here is what Luc Pettavino has to say: “We create beauty to do good.”
Since the establishment of biennual Only Watch charity auction in 2005, more than EUR35 million has been raised.
We thank The Hour Glass for the opportunity to view such beauties that will do good and sincerely extend our best wishes to the Only Watch charity auction.
